Becoming Catholic for Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation (R.C.I.A.) is a process for sharing the Catholic faith with adults who are:

  • Not baptized but are feeling God's call in their lives.
  • Baptized in other faiths and feel drawn to the Catholic Church.
  • Baptized in the Catholic faith, but have not received First Communion or Confirmation.
  • Baptized and confirmed, but want to update their knowledge of the Catholic faith.

How the process works:

  1. We begin with an introduction to the Catholic faith and community. No commitment is required.
  2. Next comes a period of learning the fundamentals of the faith and formation into the Catholic community.
  3. Spiritual preparation then intensifies as we examine our lives and the changes we are called to make. This is the time of final preparation for receiving the sacraments.
  4. At the Easter Vigil, new members are initiated into the faith.
  5. Then begins a period of continued learning and reflection.
